This of course is not for everyone. But sometimes useful in a safety presentation for an unusual discussion point.
Gory and/or graphical safety videos don’t always work. So choose your timing and your audience and preface the safety training in the right way.
Most safety training professionals tend to avoid much in the way of gory – or impact safety videos as they are otherwise known. They do not think it is necessary to show depictions of people getting their ring finger ripped off or someone getting hair caught in a machine and being “scalped”.
But some will argue that for PPE training, maybe it has its place. If used only occasionally and for bringing home certain PPE important points. As a trainer has noted in a forum I read somewhere: “It’s like the guy who swears all the time – no one pays any attention. But when the prim and proper who never swears belts out a few emotional 4 letter beauties, everybody notices”.
